Garmin brings fresh bug fixes to popular mid-range smartwatches with new software update
Garmin has brought another round of changes to the Instinct 2 (curr. $244 on Amazon) through a new beta update for the smartwatch and its peers. To recap, the company started rolling out Beta Version 16.10 towards the end of July. Shortly afterwards, it transitioned the update to its stable software distribution channel as System Software 16.10.
Supposedly, v16.10 concluded Garmin's 16.xx Beta period. However, the company has quietly released a new 16.xx beta update to address various bugs that were present in Beta Version 16.10. Presumably, this also means that Garmin intends to release a new 16.xx stable update shortly too.
In a forum post, Garmin explains that Beta Version 16.11 should have already reached all eligible Instinct 2 series and Crossover smartwatches. If that is not the case, then Beta Version 16.11 can be requested manually by heading to Menu, System, Software Update and then tapping 'Check for Updates'. Alternatively, it should be possible to pick up the update through the Garmin Express software when syncing an Instinct 2 or Crossover smartwatch with a computer. For reference, Beta Version 16.11 contains the following changes from v16.10:
