The Pixel Watch 2 has dropped significantly in price since its release less than a year ago. For context, Google's current smartwatch started out life at $349.99, although it is now regularly available for as little as $269.99 from retailers like Amazon. According to a new report by Android Headlines, Google intends to offer the Pixel Watch 3 for $349.99 at launch too, which aligns with an earlier leak relating to Eurozone pricing.
This price matching is not expected to extend beyond the Pixel Watch 3's entry-level model, though. Instead, Android Headlines asserts that the Pixel Watch 3 series will launch on August 13 at the following prices:
- Pixel Watch 3 - 41 mm/Wi-Fi connectivity - $349
- Pixel Watch 3 - 45 mm/Wi-Fi connectivity - $399
- Pixel Watch 3 - 41 mm/LTE connectivity - $449
- Pixel Watch 3 - 45 mm/LTE connectivity - $499
As the website notes, it appears that the new 45 mm variant with Wi-Fi connectivity will effectively take the place of last year's Pixel Watch 2 LTE in Google's pricing strategy. Consequently, this change will make smartwatch's successor 12.5% more expensive. However, the pricing above would still undercut the Apple Watch Series 9, which starts at $399 without cellular connectivity. The price gap between the Watch Series 9 and Pixel Watch 3 is inconsistent though, and ranges between $30-$50 depending on the variant. Incidentally, promotional images for the Pixel Watch 3 and what was previously referred to as the Pixel Watch 3 XL surfaced online earlier this week, which we have covered separately.
