The 13 Pro and Pro+ have just hit the Indian market as Realme's latest ~$300-400 Android smartphones. However, for those who want to spend less for a new handset, their vanilla sibling might be on the way.
The RMX3952 as freshly TENAA-certified by Realme is thought to be the plain 13 due to its inescapable resemblance to the 12 from earlier in 2024. Then again, this new take on its series' design has gotten even more stale, if anything, without even a cosmetic mid-line braid accent for a dark purple rear panel with the standard prominent round camera hump.
Then again, that part of the 13 may have gotten at least 1 significant upgrade, as it is described as housing dual rear cameras with an on-trend 50MP main shooter in place of the aging, gimmicky 108MP sensor of the 12 - however, the secondary lens is of a weedy 2MP in resolution.
TENAA has detected a 2.2GHz SoC speed in the upcoming "13", which means it could very well have the same processor as its forebear. On the other hand, it could have 16GB of RAM and a whopping 1TB of internal storage - even more than the 13 Pro+ in terms of the latter. Then again, its 6GB/128GB base model will probably be much more widespread.
In addition, it looks like the device will miss out on the battery and charging upgrades of the Pro series. Finally, the 13 seems to have the same 6.72-inch display as the 12, which means that it might be 120Hz but will not be OLED.
The Realme 12 started at INR 20,999 (~$251, although it is discounted by 27% on Amazon.in by now) with 8GB of RAM - hopefully the 13 can stick at that price-point on its possibly impending debut.
