Realme has announced that the C53 is on the way as a "108MP Champion" for the masses. This formerly more premium spec is thus set to trickle down to a whole new tier of the Indian smartphone market. Then again, taking it up at this level may entail compromises in other ways, such as a large battery hampered by slow charging.

Realme is gearing up to launch the new C53 with a "Champion Design" most like that of the Narzo N53 except that the main camera's resolution will grow to no less than 108MP in this case. The 3-ring hump will form part of a two-toned rear panel finished in what looks like varying shades of gold.

Despite these potentially winning looks, Realme has also hinted that the C53 is destined for a new and potentially more affordable price-tier, especially for its formerly cutting-edge primary camera tech. That impression is underpinned by the confirmation of an old-school waterdrop-notched display in this upcoming device.

It will be kept on with a battery of an often welcome 5,000mAh in rated capacity - however, this (also apparently championship-level) spec's hype is tempered by the inclusion of practically archaic 18W charging in the upcoming C53. Then again, that does increase the odds of the new smartphone launching with the attractive starting price some members of its Indian audience may hope to see on its July 19, 2023 debut.
