Meizu 21 Pro lands as Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered Android smartphone, 2K+ near-bezel-free display and up to 1TB of storage
Meizu has clearly decided to complete what might be its last series of flagship Android smartphones after all with the 21 Pro. Its understandable Polestar Phone vibes propagate with flat edges of just 7.9mm in depth, whereas the phone is just 74mm across in total for easier one-handed use.
Nevertheless, the skinny 21 Pro packs a 5,050mAh battery that supports up to 80W charging via USB-C and the 50W wireless charging missing in its vanilla sibling. However, the new Pro variant does have a reduced-bezel flat display, although it upgrades to more 6.79-inch, 21:9 real estate with a 1368 x 3192 ("2K+") resolution.
All in all, it is as much of a potential design win as the RedMagic 9 Pro, although its quad rear 'lens rings' protrude quite a bit more. The bottom-most houses a circular RGB flash rather than a camera, whereas the other 3 accommodate a 10MP 3x telephoto lens, a 13MP ultrawide-angle shooter and an OmniVision OV50H for a main sensor.
The 21 Pro is still a Flyme OS device, albeit the first of its kind to be touted as "All in AI" with Circle to Search- and Live Translate-style features - not to mention advanced integration with MYVU glasses and Geely cars, of course.
We will still miss Meizu phones should they truly be discontinued soon. In the meantime, however, the 21 Pro is available to its fans in China in finishes ranging from graphite glass to green vegan leather, starting at 4,999 yuan (~$695) with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, although it also tops out with 16GB/1TB configurations for 5,899 yuan (~$820).
