Meizu is now predicted to expand (rather than downsize) its Android smartphone portfolio with a new range positioned below its current Note and numerical flagship lines in terms of specs and price.
The first of these is to be called the Lucky 08, a device with just 2 rear cameras. However, those shooters are apparently to be arranged in a distinctly non-standard housing that makes it look like 1 has an orbit (or a gear-track) around the other, with an interesting radiating background.
The stark departure from the increasingly cookie-cutter camera humps will be presented in black and gold versions of the Lucky 08, according to the typically knowledgeable leaker Digital Chat Station.
The tipster also hints that the smartphone will have a battery of about 6,000mAh in capacity and the same kind of Flyme AIOS features as Meizu's flagships.
Then again, it is also slated to compromise in other areas, such as having a flat-edged frame made of plastic, to bring its price-point down to the ~1,999 yuan (~$280) mark.
Should that be the case, the Lucky 08 might be in line for an imminent reveal in China with a projected September 2024 launch date.
