Meizu unveils MYVU Smart Ring and flagship alternative to Google Glass
The MYVU Discovery AR Smart Glasses combine the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 smartwatch processor with two microLED displays: content displayed is reflected in the lenses of the glasses. Thanks to the powerful hardware, the glasses can do much more than just display videos.
Meizu advertises smart glasses, among other things, with a navigation app, which displays the correct route directly in the field of vision, and a voice assistant. Widgets can display current information, and thanks to integrated speakers and microphones, it is possible to make calls via the glasses or receive real-time translations during a conversation. Weighing just 71 grams, the glasses are designed to be very comfortable to wear.
The 600-mAh battery should provide enough power for eight hours of use. The user interface can be controlled either via the touch-sensitive temple of glasses, by voice, via a connected smartphone, or by the brand-new MYVU Smart Ring. This ring is touch-sensitive and equipped with motion sensors so that the AR glasses can be controlled using hand gestures. The ring's battery lasts for two hours, and Meizu includes a charging case.
