Samsung Galaxy Smart Ring rumoured to launch together with the Galaxy S24 series

In July, it was reported that TM Roh, Samsung's Mobile CEO, was considering whether to authorise the continued development of the Galaxy Smart Ring, which was also rumoured to be called the Galaxy Ring. For reference, Samsung patented a ring-like wearable nearly a year ago with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Thus, this is not a new development that is years away from release.

Allegedly, Roh would decide in August whether to green light the device. Now, the well-informed Ice Universe has announced on Weibo that Samsung is pushing ahead with development. Not only is Samsung now actively developing a smartwatch alternative, but it will also be presented comparatively soon.

Specifically, Ice Universe claims that the Galaxy Smart Ring will debut together with the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, which is expected to arrive as the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Plus and Galaxy S24 Ultra. For now, Samsung is rumoured to be on track for a January 2024 unveiling of all these products, in part because Qualcomm will unveil its next flagship chipset earlier in the year than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Theoretically, the Galaxy Smart Ring should encompass many of the health tracking features that Samsung's smartwatches already offer, albeit in a smaller package. If Ice Universe is accurate, expect to see various regulatory bodies publish certification documentation within towards the end of the year.
