Polestar has allegedly unveiled plans to augment its EV offerings with a "retail and service network" - and also its inaugural own-brand smartphone. It is reportedly pitched as a high-end device with a flat punch-hole display, although most of its specs remain a mystery at present.
Then again, its new video (apparently the result of some stealthy recording during a press conference) paints it as a device aspiring to flagship status. Accordingly, it might remind some EV-linked smartphone fans of Meizu's latest line-up, especially as Polestar is indeed said to have partnered with the Geely subsidiary to make this new Phone.
This ostensible version of the 20 is heavily customized so as to evince its new brand, with one of its rear camera rings having acquired a gold accent thought to match the Polestar 2's brake calipers and seatbelts.
It also seems to integrate a ring-flash, whereas the other 2 identically-sized lenses are portrayed as having wide-angle ("f/1.9 23mm") and telephoto ("f/2.08 70mm") functions.
Its metallic, elegantly flattened mid-frame also gives the game away by having the name Polestar inscribed right into it. Accordingly, the first-gen device is tipped to counter the NIO Phone on the Chinese market sometime soon.
