Meizu has indicated that its bid to stay relevant in the flagship smartphone market involves a successor to the 21 with an on-trend compact design.
The 22 is slated to be just 71 millimeters (mm) in width, which may indeed make it a little more pocket-friendly than even the 71.7mm OnePlus 13T.
The device will have a standard Meizu model number, though, according to the venerable leaker Digital Chat Station.
The "M582Q" might subvert expectations in another way - and it might be in a less benign manner, as it apparently concerns its battery life.
Digital Chat Station also now claims to have learned that the 22 will have a rated capacity of 5,370mAh, which might convert to a typical capacity of just 5,500mAh (like the sub-flagship, last-gen OnePlus 12R).
That might be a major disadvantage compared to the 6,100mAh 13T - even its global edition the 13s could beat the 22 at a reduced 5,850mAh.
Meizu could lean heavily on the 22's supposedly superior rear cameras and Flyme AI features to make up for it on its launch, now predicted to take place in July 2025 at the latest.
