Meizu asserts that its new way to make payments in stores or cafés is the most futuristic to date, as it is integrated into its latest smart glasses. The OEM has partnered with a well-known international financial services provider to bring this latest function to its StarV-series AR glasses.

There is a new way to get that coffee or snack without need for cash, a wallet or even your phone - so long as you wear glasses from Meizu, that is.

The user will have to do no more than give a verbal command in order to complete transactions using the AR spectacles, according to the OEM.

The feature is slated to debut on the StarV Air2 glasses in the third quarter of 2025, and should also be supported by all successors to the same to be released this year.

There is a caveat to the feature, which is that it is only compatible with the payment technology of Alipay+, a platform associated with services and apps found in Asian countries.

They include Indonesia's Doku Wallet, Macao's "predominant" mobile app Mpay and Naver Pay, which operates in South Korea.

Nevertheless, Meizu's success in integrating payments into its StarV-series devices might be welcomed by others betting on similar XR/AR glasses taking over from smartphones one day.

The new RayNeo Air 3s XR glasses: now available for $269 on Amazon.
