Amazfit has announced a new software feature that, on the face of it, is something that owners of the brand's smartwatches might have craved for a while. It is rated to use the NFC integrated into wearables such as the Balance available on Amazon to (potentially) make the user's life more convenient. Then again, it might still be lacking in 1 key area.
The new feature is rated to store and update the digital versions of various cards, and has 'space' for up to 13 of those. Then again, those cards are apparently of the "membership" or "transit" variety only, and not of the payment variety.
Therefore, while the new feature might let you bypass your own wallet to do things such as picking up reward points in a chain café or getting you on the train with your Amazfit smartwatch, it still can't act as a Google Pay replacement as it still is one of Zepp's custom mini-apps.
The brand does now have its own Zepp Pay feature, rated to empower contactless payments via a linked Mastercard, although its availability might vary from region to region.
In other Amazfit news, its ChatGPT-based Zepp Flow assistant has now been joined by more AI for the brand's online customer service.
The "smart agent" is powered by LiveX AI and is backed to provide "a seamless and engaging shopping experience" with "a personal touch".
