Garmin has announced system software version 19.49 for the Descent Mk3 and Mk3i wearable dive computers. It arrived around three months after the previous stable release, version 19.34, which added Garmin Share and enhanced the SubWave messaging feature.
Software version 19.49 brings support for additional technical diving data fields, such as FiO2, Diluent PO2 and Raw Ceiling for the Mk3i. The new Pool Apnea activity, which arrived with the recently released Descent G2, is now available for users of thesewearables. Plus, the Auto Dive Snooze tool, seen on the Fenix 8, has also been added to the dive computers. On top of this, there is a new always-on dive display mode, as well as support for the Alipay and Weixin Pay apps.
As well as new features, the release brings improvements to existing tools. For example, the dive precheck and the appearance of the PacePro minimap are said to have been enhanced. Plus, there are bug fixes for issues with low battery alerts, such as the Activity Summary page and Tides. You can view the full change log in the screenshot below.
It is worth noting that, after installing the update, some users have reported map-related issues, such as the top part of the map being cut off and auto-zoom not being able to be disabled. Garmin has acknowledged the problem but has yet to indicate when users can expect a fix. The company notes that this software update is now available for all users of the Descent Mk3 and Mk3i wearable dive computers (curr. $1,399.99 at Amazon). Your device should check for the update automatically, or it can be manually triggered via Garmin Connect or Garmin Express.
