Garmin announces new stable update bringing fifty changes to wearables
Garmin is rolling out a stable update for the Descent Mk3 and Descent Mk3i wearable dive computers. System software 19.34 brings a large number of new features, improvements and bug fixes to the watch-style gadgets.
The release notes state that the Descent Mk3i wearable gains the ability to send more SubWave messages when you use the Descent T2 transceiver. Stability when pairing several tankpods has also been improved for this model. For both the Mk3i and the Mk3, there is an optimized layout of the in-dive apnea data page, with a new stopwatch timer, and End Dive Delay is now five minutes by default. Plus, improvements have been made to the Gauge Dive lockout feature. Alongside these diving-related changes are also amendments seen on the Epix Pro Gen 2. These include the Garmin Share app, improved race time predictions and the addition of course and saved location data in device backups. The complete change log is provided below.
Garmin has said that the update should already have reached at least 50% of users of the Descent Mk3 and Mk3i smartwatches (curr. $1,335.20 at Amazon). However, the company has not indicated when the rollout will be complete. System software version 19.34 should be pushed to the dive computers automatically, though you can also manually trigger the update via Garmin Connect or Garmin Express.
