The new Rokid Glasses have been revealed at the Rokid Jungle 2024 event in China. The brand has already launched various AR wearable products this year, including the Rokid AR Lite for spatial computing, which was crowdfunded on Kickstarter.
This latest product from Rokid is a pair of smart glasses with a display and frames designed by eyewear brand Bolon. They are said to combine augmented reality and AI. According to the brand, you can use the gadget for object recognition, text translation and estimated calorie count for food. Plus, the company has announced a partnership with Garmin; a suggested use case is for cyclists to view directions and health metrics like heart rate while riding.
The wearable has a built-in 12MP camera and integrated speakers and is powered by the Snapdragon Qualcomm AR1 processor like the Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses (curr. $289.00 at Amazon). The glasses also have a 0.13” JBD MicroLED panel, 2GB RAM, 32GB ROM, and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity. Rokid indicates that the gadget last for up to four hours, fully recharging in 20 minutes, with the wireless charging carry case providing up to ten full charges.
The glasses weigh 49 g (~0.11 lbs) and customers can choose from a range of frame colors. Plus, the wearable can accommodate custom lenses for users with myopia or astigmatism. The Rokid Glasses have an RRP of 2,499 yuan (~$345) in China and are expected to go on sale at some point between April and June. While the company has hinted at an international rollout, it is unclear when this could happen.
