Garmin has announced another iteration of its Q4 Public Beta update to the Edge 540, Edge 840 and Edge 1040 bike computers. Version 25.21 brings a minor update to the devices, as well as a range of bug fixes. Like other recent releases, this is a back-to-back update that requires two downloads.

The Garmin Edge 540, Edge 840, and Edge 1040 GPS cycling computers are receiving another beta update. Software version 25.21 is a new iteration of the Q4 Public Beta update, which users started testing at the beginning of November.

This update focuses on bug fixes for the X40 Edge bike computers. The change log states that issues with maps shown on data screens and the Stamina Distance to Go units have been resolved. The Garmin team has also ironed out a problem with erratic grade values when users suspended and resumed cycling. The devices will no longer crash on power down. Plus, only for the Edge 540 and Edge 840 is a fix for clipped icons in the Distance to Next field. On top of this, Garmin says that the icon that is displayed when you connect your Edge product to a computer has been updated.

As with other recent releases, users must ensure that they install beta version 24.54 before proceeding with the update to 25.21. To do this, navigate to Main Menu > System > About > Check for Updates. At the time of writing, at least 20% of Garmin Edge 540, Edge 840 and Edge 1040 owners can download the new software. It is also worth noting that the Edge 540 is currently discounted to $249.99 (RRP $349.99) at Amazon.
