Garmin releases extensive Edge 1050 bike computer update with dozens of bug fixes and new features
Garmin is preparing to deliver a new quarterly update for its latest bike computer. For reference, the company has not yet confirmed when v11.17 will reach the Edge 1050 (curr. $699.99 on Amazon). However, it is already available to try for those who have enrolled the Edge 1050 on Garmin's Beta Program.
Seemingly, v11.17 will be a substantial update for the Edge 1050, which debuted in June. With that being said, many of the changes contained within Public Beta 11.17 just resolve bugs that shipped with Stable Version 10.19 in September. Specifically, Garmin has included five bug fixes for Garmin Coach and GroupRide alone.
Moreover, Public Beta 11.17 is said to implement resolutions to issues that could occur when pairing to the inReach Messenger Plus, map track-line errors, and smartphone phone connectivity problems. Furthermore, the new build should address navigation inconsistencies like mismatched arrows and distances, as well as a malfunctioning elapsed timer that could occur when suspending an activity.
Additional bug fixes also include resolving record message gaps in activity files and incorrect recovery heart rate entry values that prevented Garmin Connect from displaying data correctly. Meanwhile, v11.17 should prevent the Edge 1050 from entering Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) mode when it is switched off but a bike alarm is active. On top of that, Garmin has bundled a few features in this quarter's update too, which you can find in the full changelog below:
