Garmin releases new Public Beta 19.09 for Edge 540, Edge 840 and Edge 1040 bike computers
Garmin has released Public Beta 19.09 for the Edge 540, Edge 840 and Edge 1040 bike computers. The update is relatively small, with just one bug fix; an issue with an invalid language for the keyboard for joining GroupRide has been resolved.
Beta 19.09 follows the recent firmware v19.08, released for the Edge 540, Edge 840 and Edge 1040 models earlier this month. This update brought many new features to the devices, like a shortcut to ClimbPro and the ability to manually set the heart rate measurement, which is used to calculate your fitness age. Plus, a different GroupRide keyboard problem, this time for showing non-English keys, was resolved with the previous firmware.
Garmin notes that the software is in a pre-rollout state, meaning customers must install the update over Wi-Fi. You can do this by going to Main Menu > select System > About > choose Check For Updates. As always, the company requests that customers log any further bugs in the relevant section of the forum; at the time of writing, no issues have been logged for version 19.09. Should you wish to join the Beta Program, you can sign up via Garmin Connect.
