Garmin has launched Public Beta 19.08 for the Edge 540 and Edge 840 bike computers. This is the first software release in the 19.xx series, with various additions and improvements. For example, Garmin has enhanced the scheduled ride time picker and fixed an issue with the keyboard for GroupRide. Additions to ClimbPro include a shortcut via a “Climb!” prompt and an estimated time to the end of the climb. Plus, bugs with ClimbPro and the elevation page for indoor trainer courses have been resolved.
You can now manually set your resting heart rate, enabling the Fitness Age calculation on Garmin Connect, and you can automatically pause a workout, set up via the activity profile. Other bugs that have been fixed include crashes triggered by Connect IQ alerts, Di2 shifter ordering in the battery data field and the front gear data field display. Plus, Garmin has updated the VO2 Max page to show four weeks of history, with increased resolution, and switched Twitter references to reflect the rebrand to X.
Garmin notes that the beta is in a pre-rollout state, requiring users to use Wi-Fi to check for updates on the device. Beta program members can go to Main Menu > System > About > Check For Updates to find the new software. If you wish to join the Beta Program, you can do so via Garmin Connect.
