New Decathlon Elops Speed 900E electric city bike arrives with GPS tracking
The Decathlon Elops Speed 900E electric city bike is now available in some EU countries. The model has a Mahle X35 drivetrain with a 250W motor delivering up to 40 Nm torque and a top speed of 25 kph (~16 mph), with three power modes and a walk mode.
The Elops Speed 900E has a 36V 250Wh battery that allows you to ride with assistance for up to 80 km (~50 miles). You can connect your smartphone to the e-bike, letting you control various settings via the Decathlon Mobility app. This allows you to use GPS to track the location of your electric bicycle and receive alerts of attempted theft. Decathlon notes that the connectivity is free for the first year, charged at €2 per month after that.
Three sizes are available from M to XL, suiting riders from 1.6 to 2 m (~5 ft 3-in to 6ft 7-in) tall. The bike has a light 6061 T6 alumnium frame, with the medium-sized model weighing 15 kg (~33 lbs). You can now buy the Decathlon Elops Speed 900E electric city bike in EU countries like France, Spain, Italy and Germany for €1,899. It is unclear when the model could arrive in markets like the US or UK.
