Nukeproof Megawatt Carbon launched as first SRAM Eagle Powertrain eMTB
SRAM recently launched its new Eagle Powertrain electric mountain bike platform, complete with 250 W (680 W peak) motor, that aims to distil the eMTB experience down to pure, unadulterated fun. Alongside the launch of the Eagle Powertrain, Nukeproof has announced the Megawatt Carbon — the latest in its eMTB line-up — that makes use of SRAM's new electric platform.
The Nukeproof Megawatt Carbon is a high-spec, full-suspension, electric enduro mountain bike with 29-inch front and 27.5-inch rear wheels, and it's fitted with refined RockShox suspension and SRAM's Eagle Powertrain that works in conjunction with SRAM gearing. It features a 12-speed drivetrain and a rather minimalist cockpit thanks to wireless shifting on SRAM X0 and GX AXS hardware.
The 720 Wh battery is removable for charging, and Rally and Range ride modes with customisable pedal assist, Coast Shift, and Autoshift features aim to simplify the riding experience greatly.
SRAM's new e-bike platform is the biggest highlight of the Nukeproof Megawatt, since it offers slightly more torque and a far simpler ride and look than the Shimano gear usually used in Nukeproof's Megawatt series. Being an enduro bike, it features 170 mm of front suspension travel, and the head tube angle looks plenty aggressive to tackle some steep descents.
The Nukeproof Megawatt will come in two trims — the US$9,899 Megawatt Carbon Pro and the US$10,899 Megawatt Carbon RS. Nukeproof has already made the medium and large sizes of the Megawatt available via Nukeproof dealers, and small, XL, and XXL will follow in late October.
