The 2023 Decathlon BTWIN Longtail Electric Cargo Bike R500E has arrived. The model is identical to its predecessor, the Elops Longtail R500, and is available in two new colors: Light Green and Beige. The e-bike has a 250W motor delivering up to 58 Nm torque, allowing you to transport loads up to 170 kg (~375 lbs). You can place luggage in the front basket or on an integrated rack at the rear with an adjustable retention bar.
The Longtail R500E's torque sensor enables a more natural pedalling motion with three assistance modes. A 672 Wh lithium-ion battery from Samsung provides up to 90 km (~56 miles) range with 90% assistance in Eco Mode or 50 km (~31 miles) in Power Mode, providing 300% assistance. You can fully recharge the battery in under five hours, and a Walk Mode helps you to transport the bicycle at up to 6 kph (~4 mph). A handlebar-mounted LCD allows you to toggle between modes and shows your remaining range and distance travelled.
Other features include an eight-speed Microshift rear derailleur, Tektro hydraulic disc brakes and 26-in front and 20-in rear CST C1996 cargo bike tires. The e-bike weighs 38 kg (~84 lbs). You can now buy the Decathlon BTWIN Longtail Electric Cargo Bike R500E in European countries like France and Germany for €2,999. How and when Decathlon will roll out the new model to other markets remains unclear.
