The Elops R500E cargo e-bike is now available from Decathlon
Decathlon is selling a new cargo e-bike, the Elops R500E Longtail. The bicycle can handle a total load of up to 170 kg (~75 lbs), including 80 kg (~176 lbs) on the luggage rack and 10 kg (~22 lbs) in the basket.
The bike can travel at speeds up to 25 kph (~16 mph) and the gadget has a starting aid to get you up to 6 kph (~4 mph) when you first set off. The cargo e-bike has a 672 Wh Samsung lithium-ion battery that takes around five hours to charge. The battery has up to 90 km (~56 miles) of range in the device’s Eco mode.
The bicycle weighs 38 kg (84 lbs), with a 48V, 250 W power rated battery mounted on an aluminum frame. The engine can deliver a torque of 58 Nm, allowing natural peddling thanks to a torque sensor.
A gear lever and LCD display are mounted on the handlebars, showing stats such as distance covered on your journey. The bike also has 40 lux front lights and rear and braking lights. The bicycle is compatible with BTWIN accessories such as panniers, cushions and child seats.
You can now buy the E-cargo bike R500E Longtail in Europe for €2,799 (~US$3,044), in a light grey-blue. It is unclear whether or when the vehicle could be sold in other markets.
