VanMoof unveils two new e-bikes, the S5 and A5, with built-in anti-theft technology
VanMoof has revealed two new e-bikes, the S5 and A5 models. Both vehicles have Turbo Boost technology to provide you with instant acceleration. The company says the A5 is ideal for city rides and shorter journeys, featuring a step-in, angled frame. The bike weighs 48.5 lbs (~22 kg) and has a 463 Wh capacity battery giving up to 87 miles (~140 km) of range.
The S5 has a straight frame designed for cruising and longer trips. This e-bike is fractionally heavier, weighing 50.7 lbs (~23 kg), and with a 487 Wh battery, it has slightly more range at 93 miles (~150 km).
Both bicycles have the Halo Ring Interface; LED light rings on the handlebars to provide you with information such as speed and battery level without taking your eyes off the road. You can also attach your phone to the handlebars and use the VanMoof app to view more stats such as ride duration and distance travelled.
The bikes have an e-shifter, torque sensor, and Gen 5 Motor for a quiet and comfortable ride. Also included is anti-theft technology such as an alarm system and a built-in KickLock, securing your vehicle by tapping a button on the wheel.
The S5 is suitable for riders between 5-ft 4-in and 6-ft 9-in (~163 and ~206 cm), but the A5 has a narrower range, suiting those who are 5-ft 1-in to 6-ft-5-in (~155cm to ~196 cm) tall. You can now join the waitlist for the VanMoof S5 and A5 e-bikes, which will cost US$2,998 each.
