Taiwan’s Tern has unveiled its next-generation GSD cargo electric bike in Europe and North America. Tern’s latest GSB cargo bike brings significant upgrades over the last generation model in terms of performance, overall frame design with higher load capacity, improved braking system, and safety features.
Starting with the frame, the new GSD electric cargo bike uses a reinforced 6061 aluminum frame with larger-diameter hydroformed tubing. As a result, the cargo e-bike weighs just 34.95 kg (77.1 lbs) and can carry up to 210 kg (463 lbs), which includes an adult rider and up to two kids/cargo. The entire body of the e-bike—frame, fork, rear rack, kickstand, and braking system—is certified by the German DIN 79040 safety standard testing.
The GSD cargo e-bike is equipped with a Bosch Cargo line mid-drive motor with 85 Nm torque and 400% pedal assistance, delivering up to 25 kph (15.5 mph) top speed. A 500 Wh Bosch dual battery provides up to 101 km (63 miles) range on a single charge. It features 20-inch wheels with Magura hydraulic disc brakes. A color display on the handlebar shows the information of the e-bike’s battery level, active mode, and more.
Other features include vertical parking, Bosch ABS braking, GPS tracking, eBike Lock, and an ebike alarm system, which provides extra layers of protection when locking down the GSD. The e-bike also has a foldable design, making it easier to store in compact spaces. Dimensionally, the R14 and S10 models measure 72.8 x 18.1 x 34.6 inches (1850 x 460 x 880 mm), while the P00 and P10 models measure 71.7 x 18.1 x 34.3 inches (1820 x 460 x 870 mm) when folded.
The third-generation GSD electric cargo bike starts at $4,999 (€5,399/£4,700) and will be available for purchase from May 2025 in Europe and North America via Tern Bicycles's official website.
