Lidl recently launched a new range of Crivit X.3 and Y.3 urban e-bikes in European countries, including the Netherlands, France and Germany. They are designed for riding around the city, commuting or running errands.
There are a few differences between these four Crivit e-bikes. The X.3 and Y.3 belt models have a Gates SideTrack carbon belt, which is said to be durable and maintenance-free. The other two models are fitted with a Shimano Cues U4000 9-speed derailleur. While the X.3 bikes have a stepover frame, suited to riders from 170 to 195 cm (~5'7" to 6'5") tall, the Y.3 are step-through models, recommended for those who are 160 to 190 cm (~5'3" to 6'3") tall.
All four models are equipped with a Mivice M080 motor mounted at the rear for 250 W power and 40 Nm torque. This can provide assistance at speeds up to 25 kph (~16 mph), with three modes on offer and a 20-second boost feature. The accompanying 355 Wh battery delivers an estimated assistance range of 100 km (~60 miles); it can be removed for charging should you wish, with a full recharge taking 3.5 hours. Other features include Schwalbe Big Ben 27.5" tires and Shimano MT200 hydraulic disc brakes. Plus, there are accessories like a headlight, tail light, a rear luggage rack, an SP Connect smartphone holder and a Fidlock "Bike Base" magnetic mount (curr. $14.89 at Amazon). Customers can choose between various frame colors, with the bikes weighing 23-24 kg (~51-53 lbs).
You can currently buy the Crivit Belt Drive X.3 and Y.3 e-bikes for the discounted price of €1,299 in the Netherlands and France, where they typically retail for €1,499-€1,599. The Shimano X.3 and Y.3 e-bikes are more expensive in these countries with a €1,599-€1,699 RRP; these are also reduced at the moment to €1,399. It is unclear how long these deals will last. In Germany, the belt drive models are priced at €1,699, and the Shimano versions cost €1,799.
