Decathlon has released an image of an upcoming Btwin longtail e-bike. This model recently appeared alongside a smaller Btwin midtail electric bicycle in a customer survey. The image shows a low-frame e-bike with various accessories.
At the rear of the Btwin longtail is a rack with two seats to transport passengers. On either side of the seat are metal bars to keep children or luggage inside, with a backrest at either end and two longer footrests. More luggage can be carried at the front thanks to a shorter rack. Other accessories include a front fender, a ring lock around the front tire and a kickstand at the very rear.
The new Btwin longtail bike is shown with a 24-inch tire at the front and a 20-inch tire at the rear, as well as a front suspension. This model is powered by an Owuru motor with continuously variable transmission (CVT). If this is the same engine as used on the E-ACTV 900, it offers 250W nominal power, 600W peak power and 65NM torque. Details about the battery capacity, range, and pricing remain unclear.
Transition Velo, the publication that spotted the survey, speculates that the new Decathlon Btwin longtail e-bike is still in development and will not launch until next year. It could be that, in the long term, this upcoming model will replace the R500E cargo bike, which was released in 2024.
