Decathlon has launched the Btwin LD 940E Connect bike in various European countries. This electric city bike was unveiled at an event in March 2024 as an upgraded version of the Btwin LD 920E.
This new Btwin model has an Owuru motor with 250W power (650W peak power) and 65 Nm torque. The engine is equipped with a CVT (Continuous Variation Transmission) for automatic gear shifting, with a pedalling cadence adjustable between 40 and 90 rpm. The 694 Wh battery is said to deliver up to 130 km (~81 miles) assistance range in Eco mode, 74 km (~46 miles) in Tour mode and 64 km (~40 miles) in Turbo mode. Thanks to Bluetooth, you can connect the bike to your smartphone, allowing you to track its location or view journey statistics in the Decathlon app. Plus, information like the remaining battery and the time is shown on the bike on an integrated color screen with a USB-C charging port.
Other features include a suspension fork with 30 mm travel, Tektro R280 hydraulic disc brakes and Vittoria E-Randonneur Tech tires. Plus, there are accessories like a headlight, a rear luggage rack, fenders and a kickstand. The aluminum frame is only available in one color, light brown/beige, and will come in two sizes: S/M for riders who are between 1.55 and 1.74 m (~5’ 1‘ and 5’ 9’’) tall and L/XL for those who measure between 1.75 and 1.95 m (~5’ 9’’ and 6’ 5’’). As a guide, the larger size weighs 26.5 kg (~58.4 lbs).
You can now buy the Decathlon Btwin LD 940E Connect bike in the Netherlands for €2,799.99 and in France for €2,999.99. However, only the S/M size is currently available. It will retail in Spain for €2,999.99, where both sizes are currently out of stock. When these stock issues will be resolved is unclear.
