Garmin is about to launch the Varia Vue Camera Headlight for cyclists. This unreleased accessory has recently been spotted in two places. It appears to combine a front-facing camera with a bike light.
Firstly, the Garmin Varia Vue is mentioned in the release notes for the Varia app version 4.0.0. These state that the upcoming product is now supported. Other changes include the new Vault video storage subscription service and improvements for the camera control experience for the Varia RCT715 Radar Camera Tail Light (curr. $299 at Amazon).
Secondly, the Varia Vue was briefly listed on Amazon; this product page has since been removed. However, many details about the product have now leaked. The Varia Vue has a 4K camera alongside an up to 600-lumen headlight. Features include automatic brightness adjustments, cut-off beam and incident detection. Plus, there is a concealed audio record button and Wi-Fi connectivity for cloud storage of your video and audio captures.
The Varia Vue will connect with other Garmin gadgets like the Edge 1050, the Varia RCT715 rear light and the HRM 200, though the type of connection has yet to be specified. The camera accessory is said to have a long battery life, running for up to seven hours with typical use, and weighs 2.08 oz (~59 g). It is unclear when the Garmin Varia Vue Camera Headlight will launch or how much it will cost.
