The Garmin Fenix 7, Fenix 7 Pro, Epix 2, Epix 2 Pro, Enduro 2, Quatix 7 and Marq Gen 2 smartwatches are receiving a new beta update, version 21.05. It arrives around a week after the first release in the 21.xx testing cycle, version 21.04; this brought new unlock icons for the sensor details page and an updated version of the Running Track Database.
The first change log section for update version 21.05 is identical to that of version 21.04. However, the second section below outlines six bug fixes. These address issues where the on-device workout schedule did not match the version in Garmin Connect, and users could not see the pan or zoom icons on the map. Other fixes are for problems with weekly totals when users alter the First Day of Week setting, and the sleep mode being switched back on after it has finished.
However, several users have flagged that they are experiencing issues with Garmin Coach, both with version 21.04 and 21.05. In a post on the Garmin forum, users report that they cannot complete workouts in their Garmin Coach training plan. The watch will unexpectedly restart during one of these workouts. Even upon rebooting the wearable, it will restart again after a short period of time. General workouts do not seem to be affected by this bug. The Garmin team has yet to respond to the users who are experiencing this issue.
If you wish to download beta version 21.05 for the Fenix 7 and related smartwatches, you can do so by going to the Main Menu > System > Software Update > Check for Updates. As per usual, the ECG feature is disabled during beta testing on all eligible watches, like the Garmin Fenix 7 Sapphire Solar (curr. $648 at Amazon).
