Garmin is rolling out a new software update for the vivomove Trend hybrid smartwatch. Firmware version 2.29 is the latest stable release for this wearable, arriving around six months after its predecessor, version 2.27. This earlier update resolved a distance-related issue that occurred when using Connected GPS.
The change log for firmware version 2.29 includes two changes. Firstly, there is a new vibe, or vibration, at the start of an auto activity. The Auto Activity Start feature means that your smartwatch can intelligently start tracking a running or walking workout when continuous movement is detected by the wearable. Secondly, there are said to be system stability improvements; unfortunately, Garmin does not provide further details here. At the time of writing, no vivomove Trend users have publicly reported issues with this release.
In a post on the Garmin forum, the company notes that firmware version 2.29 should be available for at least 50% of users of the vivomove Trend smartwatch (curr. from $236.52 at Amazon). It is unclear when the rollout of this update will be complete. You can download this update either via Garmin Express or the Garmin Connect Mobile app.
