Tesla Model 3 and Y get colour wraps in west, all but confirming Cybertruck customisation ↺
Tesla has offered Chinese customers the option to customise their Model 3 and Model Y vehicles for some time, but the company has now expanded this offering to western markets. The Tesla wraps offer customers a relatively inexpensive and easy way to customise their vehicles and protect the underlying paint.
Currently, Tesla offers the Model 3 and Y wraps in seven different colour schemes, including clear — although none are quite as exciting as the digital camo or Ford F-150 guises the Cybertruck has been seen in. Given the various prints the Cybertruck has worn in previous sightings, the rumour mill has been ablaze with theories that Tesla will offer wraps from the factory.
Expanding its wrapping business beyond Chinese borders all but confirms that the Cybertruck will be available in a more exciting colour than mill-finished stainless steel.
Considering the material and finish chosen for the Cybertruck — which would prove difficult to repair in the case of scratches or scuffs — a factory wrap would likely be a reasonable option for many Cybertruck owners. A clear PPF (paint protective film), which is also offered for the Model 3 and Y for US$5,000, would be an attractive option for those looking to protect the finish of their vehicles without sacrificing the unique stainless steel look.
Tesla is charging between US$7,500 and US$8,000 for the colour wraps, while the clear version comes in at US$5,000.
