Tesla Cybertruck spotted in electric-blue camo wrap further hints at first-party wraps
As Tesla's Cybertruck approaches production and launch, we have repeatedly seen the stainless-steel-skinned electric pickup truck out on the streets in various different wrapped and unwrapped states — some even poking fun at other brands' ICE pickup trucks. The latest Cybertruck to hit the internet showed up in a bright blue digital camo wrap on X (fka Twitter).
Cybertruck sightings are somewhat commonplace nowadays, but the wide variety of wraps that have been seen has reignited speculation about wraps being offered as an option from the Tesla factory. The obvious problem with offering wraps from the factory is that they are time-consuming to apply, although the Cybertruck's flat body panels would likely simplify matters somewhat.
The different Cybertruck wraps could also be indicative of testing for an in-house wrapping process, since that would be completely new territory for the EV maker. What seems more likely is that Tesla would partner with a third party to offer after-market wraps, which can reportedly cost several thousand dollars.
A wrap would go a long way towards solving the Cybertruck's alleged fingerprint and scuff problem for which Tesla CEO Elon Musk suggested offering a tungsten carbide coating over the surface of the truck. Judging by comments online, it appears as though many of those looking to buy a Cybertruck are likely to at least consider wrapping it to reduce the inherent weakness of an unpainted stainless steel body that cannot be repaired without expensive finishing tools.
