Audi has upgraded the Q4 e-tron electric compact SUV for the 2024 model year to more closely resemble its goal of a do-it-all EV. Thanks to upgraded rear motors, the latest Q4 e-tron has more range, more power, and upgraded suspension for a sportier ride.

Given the foothold that SUVs already have in the automotive market, it's not surprising that many brands are seeing success with electric SUVs and crossovers. Audi is no different in this sense — in H1 2023, Q4 e-tron sales increased by 51.2%. For 2024, Audi has made the Q4 e-tron even more attractive to prospective buyers.

Courtesy of a new PSM (permanently excited synchronous motor) setup on the rear axle of all new Q4 e-trons, the 77 kWh battery pack will now top out at 349 miles of range as opposed to the 331.8 miles in the previous model year — not a mind-bending increase, for sure, but any increase in efficiency is sure to be welcome.

The update didn't mention how many trims would be available for the 2024 model year, but the Q4 e-tron looks like it will be available as either the Q4 e-tron 45 with RWD or quattro, or the Q4 e-tron 55 quattro, with regular or Sportback designs available.

Both the rear-wheel drive and quattro AWD versions of the Q4 e-tron 45 deliver 210 kW (286 PS), while the Q4 e-tron 55 is capable of putting down 250 kW (340 PS) in all versions. Although motor output is identical across the regular and Sportback versions, the Sportback design is more aerodynamic, giving it slightly improved range throughout the trim levels.

Acceleration is up slightly too, with 0-100 kph (0-62 mph) times of 6.7 seconds and 6.2 seconds for the RWD Q4 e-tron 45 and quattro versions, respectively, while the Q4 e-tron 55 does the same sprint in 5.4 seconds.

The on-board tech has also seen a small bump, with adaptive cruise control now featuring lane-change assist at highway speeds for the first time. Audi claims that it has also changes the suspension tune for better handling, comfort, and stability, but it does not specify what changes were made.

The new Audi q4 e-tron family will be available from September 26 at a starting MSRP of €52,950 (US$56,428).
