Swytch has launched a pre-order campaign for its Go e-bike conversion kit to a select group of customers. The company suggests that it has simplified the product’s design compared to older iterations to make it more affordable. The kit features a 250W motor integrated into the front wheel for a top assistance speed of 15 mph (~24 kph).

The Swytch Go e-bike conversion kit has been announced. The new model is expected to be smaller than the company’s existing products for regular and folding bicycles. However, it will have the same 250W motor for a top speed of 15 mph (~24 kph) and up to 20 miles (~32 km) range.

As with previous iterations, the Go’s motor is integrated into the front wheel, which comes in sizes over 26-in, and a two-piece pedal sensor helps to match the engine’s assistant to your pedalling power. One difference is the power pack, which is mounted to the bike’s frame or luggage rack using velcro; the older kits had the battery mounted to the handlebars with a clip.

Swytch suggests that it has been able to lower the cost of the new kit compared to older iterations thanks to a simplified design. However, it notes that the product will be compatible with a smaller range of bicycles. The Swytch Go e-bike conversion kit is expected to launch next spring, costing under £500 (~US$611). Customers on the wait list can pre-order the product until September 30, with the gadget shipping at launch. The company is also seeking funding from investors to ensure production of the new kit runs smoothly.
