The more athletic version of the upcoming electric Audi A6 probably won't hit the market until 2025, but a fresh set of spy shots already shows the RS6 e-tron's gigantic brake discs, big rear diffusor as well as fenders that could be part of a widebody kit.

Just like most other carmakers in the world, the German luxury brand Audi has put the focus of its EV efforts on spacious and family-friendly SUVs that dominate today’s market. Therefore, the compact Q4 and considerably larger Q8 are already available with an all-electric drivetrain, which can be identified via the company’s "e-tron" label. However, buyers who are attracted by Audi’s performance-oriented cars might be yearning for new info on an electric version of the enthusiast-grade RS6.

Thankfully, InsideEVs has now published brand-new pictures of an early prototype of Audi’s electric performance sedan. These images once again show a heavily camouflaged prototype and can be accessed via this link. Among other things, the RS6 e-tron catches the eye with its new wide fenders in the front, huge brake discs as well as an appropriately styled diffusor. All in all, the sporty exterior design clearly indicates that the Audi RS6 e-tron will go head-to-head with upcoming EVs from its iconic sister company Porsche rather than the Volkswagen core brand.

Unsurprisingly, the electric sedan is rumored to be based on the PPE platform, which is being developed in collaboration with Porsche. It seems plausible that the Audi RS6 e-tron will be equipped with a powerful electric drivetrain with all-wheel drive and 700 electric horsepower or more. However, tangible technical information on the electric performance sedan remain scarce, and InsideEV also expects that the EV won’t go on sale until 2025 at the earliest. For the time being, the German automaker is working on the launch of the Audi A6 e-tron, whose prototype has already been put through its paces on the legendary Nordschleife back in late 2022.
