The Audi Q6 e-tron compact electric crossover reimagines the Audi interior with a large driver-facing digital instrument cluster alongside a central infotainment display and a passenger touchscreen tied into the navigation and infotainment functions.

Audi's e-tron lineup has produced some of its most impressive vehicles in recent years, like the e-tron GT and its 488-km (~303 miles) range and four second 0-100 kph time. More recent rumours and news suggest Audi is developing a new platform that will serve as the base for the upcoming A6 e-tron sedan and Q6 e-tron crossover SUV. Audi's latest information dump regarding the Q6 e-tron gives us an idea of what to expect from the SUV's interior.

The first thing you'll notice looking at the Q6 e-tron's interior is an abundance of screens. In front of the driver's seat, there's a curved, seamless glass panel that covers two OLED displays. Pulling instrument cluster duties is a 11.9-inch Audi Virtual Cockpit which connects to the 14.5-inch MMI touch display that takes care of infotainment duties.

The 14.5-inch display in the centre is tilted towards the driver for easy access, and it runs on Audi's AIR operating system, which is based on Android and comes equipped with a built in voice assistant. Audi shares the display magic with the front passenger, placing another 10.9-inch display in the dashboard ahead of the front passenger seat. From this seat, passengers can act as a sort of co-pilot for the driver, configuring navigation information, as well as keep themselves entertained with a movie thanks to a built-in privacy mode.

Apart from the Virtual Cockpit and the MMI touch display, Audi also has a heads-up display (HUD) that shows information like navigation information, vehicle and road conditions, and other driver assistance features. The virtual image is projected as if it's 200 metres (656 feet) ahead of the vehicle.

While it may seem like Audi has given into the modern trend of putting as much as possible onto a screen, rather than using traditional buttons, the steering wheel and driver's armrest are surprisingly packed with buttons. Although these are backlit, they appear to be capacitive, rather than tactile.

Alongside the futuristic control scheme and layout, the Q6 e-tron will feature an LED light bar on the dash to display information like charging progress, provide feedback on user-initiated actions, and provide ambient lighting.

The Audi Q6 e-tron is expected to launch sometime around the start of 2024, and there will almost certainly be more information about the upcoming electric SUV before then.
