Tesla Cybertruck: Release Candidate model shows limits of V2 and V3 Superchargers with large EVs
Tesla Uber Guy, a relatively unknown YouTuber, has shared footage of a Tesla Cybertruck Release Candidate (RC), labelled 'RC_BUILD ENGINEERING PROTOTYPE'. Building on other recent Cybertruck leaks, the model shown below is likely one of Tesla's final prototypes before it begins mass production. As such, the model is covered in sensors, which appear to feed into a unit positioned on the passenger's side rear window.
While the videos are rather short, they highlight the sheer size of the Cybertruck compared to Tesla's existing portfolio. On the one hand, Tesla's prototype barely fits in Supercharger parking spaces, with its tow hitch nearly touching the Supercharger unit itself. On the other hand, the Cybertruck is so wide that it must be parked way off to the right just for a Supercharger cable to reach.
Presumably, this is a shortcoming of the V2 or V3 Supercharger that the Cybertruck was attached to, which Tesla will address with its V4 chargers. Even so, Tesla's decision to integrate the Cybertruck's charging port within its rear driver's side wheel arch seems ill-thought-out and could prove troublesome when charging the EV via V2 or V3 Superchargers.
