The Sweet Potato measures 85.6 mm × 56.5 mm, meaning that it has the same form factor as the popular Raspberry Pi 4. It features an Amlogic S905X chip, 2 GB of DDR4 RAM, and the possibility to add PoE support with an optional HAT.

Libre Computer has just introduced the AML-S905X-CC-V2 Sweet Potato board. It mainly focuses on bringing a few quality-of-life improvements to the company's five-year-old Le Potato SBC, such as replacing the dated micro USB power connector with USB-C and adding PoE capability.

Powering the Sweet Potato is the same Amlogic S905X chip with four Cortex-A53 cores running at up to 1.5 GHz and a Mali-450 MP3 GPU. It's joined by 2 GB of DDR4 RAM, with users having the option to add a microSD card and an eMMC module. Software support includes Ubuntu, Debian, and CoreELEC.

As mentioned, users can power the board through either the 5V 3A USB-C port or the Fast Ethernet (100 Mpbs) connector when paired with an HAT that enables PoE support. Other connectivity includes four 480 Mpbs USB-A ports, HDMI 2.0, a 40-pin GPIO header, an 8-pin audio header, and a 5-pin USB header that should enable the use of UVC cameras. Finally, an IR sensor is also present.

The Libre Computer Sweet Potato is available now for US$35, the same price as its predecessor equipped with the same amount of RAM. The PoE-unlocking HAT can be had for an extra US$15.
