Waveshare has just unveiled a new entry-level development board, the ESP32-C6-DEV-KIT-N8. As can be gleaned from its name, the board comes equipped with the ESP32-C6-WROOM-1-N8 module. It features a 32-bit RISC-V single-core processor running at up to 160 MHz, 8 MB of built-in flash, and an onboard PCB antenna.
The CH343 USB-to-UART converter and CH334 USB HUB controller allow for both USB and UART development via the USB-C port. The board also provides 23 GPIOs, with the company claiming that the pinout is compatible with Espressif Systems' ESP32-C6-DevKitC-1-N8. When it comes to wireless communication, it supports WiFi 6 (only the 2.4 GHz band), Bluetooth 5.0 (LE), and the IEEE 802.15.4 standard (Zigbee and Thread).
The Waveshare ESP32-C6-DEV-KIT-N8 is available starting today on the company's online shop. The version with castellated holes goes for US$6.99, while the variant with pin headers will set users back US$7.99, with volume discounts bringing pricing down even further. The board is also available on Amazon, where the models cost US$12.99 and US$13.99, respectively.
