Orange Pi 5, Orange Pi 5B and Orange Pi 5 Plus refreshed with new 32 GB of RAM options

Orange Pi has refreshed the Orange Pi 5 series, only a few weeks after the Raspberry Pi Foundation released the Raspberry Pi 5. To recap, Orange Pi kicked off the Orange Pi 5 series in November 2022 with an eponymous model that could be purchased for US$60 with 4 GB of RAM. A few months later, the company introduced the Orange Pi 5B and Orange Pi 5 Plus, both for US$89. However, both these single-board computers (SBCs) started with 16 GB of RAM.

However, Orange Pi now offers all three with 32 GB of RAM. For some reason, the company states that the trio will come with either LPDDR4 or LPDDR4X RAM, despite sources reporting that the latter sips up to 20% less power than the former. All other features of the Orange Pi 5, Orange Pi 5B and Orange Pi 5 Plus remain unchanged though, an overview of which we have included in the images embedded below.

Currently, the trio are cheaper on AliExpress than Amazon, which CNX Software theorises is because of the latter's higher selling fees. As a result, the Orange Pi 5 retails for US$159 on AliExpress but US$174.99 on Amazon. By contrast, Orange Pi sells the 5B and 5 Plus for US$179 on AliExpress and US$196.99 on Amazon, respectively. As it stands, Orange Pi hopes to begin shipping Orange Pi 5 series SBCs with 32 GB of RAM from October 31, regardless of whether they are purchased through AliExpress or Amazon.
