Orange Pi 5 Plus: Rockchip RK3588 SBC debuts from US$89 with dual 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet and HDMI 2.1 connectivity
Shenzhen Xunlong Software has started selling the Orange Pi 5 Plus, a 100 x 70 mm single-board computer (SBC) and the third member in the Orange Pi 5 series. While the Orange Pi 5 Plus shares similarities with the Orange Pi 5 and Orange Pi 5B, it relies on the Rockchip RK3588 and not the Rockchip RK3588S like its series counterparts. As such, the newer model contains more ports and connectivity options.
Specifically, the Orange Pi 5 Plus adds twin 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet and HDMI 2.1 ports, MIPI DSI and a USB Type-C port that supports DisplayPort Alt Mode. Also, Shenzhen Xunlong Software has included an additional M.2 slot; the primary M.2 2280 slot is now compatible with NVMe SSDs at PCIe 3.0 x4 speeds of circa 2,000 MB/s. As the image below shows, the Orange Pi 5 Plus has eMMC and MicroSD card slots too, plus four USB Type-A ports of two standards and a 40-pin expansion header.
The Orange Pi 5 Plus starts at US$89.90 with 4 GB of RAM and rises to US$109 for an 8 GB option. Alternatively, Shenzhen Xunlong Software sells the SBC with 16 GB of RAM for US$129. Sales will begin next week on AliExpress and Amazon. At launch, the Orange Pi 5 Plus will support Android 12, Debian, Orange Pi OS and Ubuntu.
