Developer Luigi Grasso has introduced the ThunderBERRY5, a single-board computer (SBC) that relies on a Qualcomm SoC. Specifically, the ThunderBERRY5 utilises the Qualcomm QCS610, which integrates two Kyro 460 Gold CPU cores clocked at 2.2 GHz and a further Kyro 460 Silver CPU cores at 1.8 GHz. Additionally, the SoC has an Adreno 612 GPU that can operate at up to 845 MHz, as well as Qualcomm's AI Engine, AI Stack and Neural Processing Engine SDK via a Hexagon 685 DSP.
Moreover, Grasso integrates 4 GB of LPDDR4 DRAM, 64 GB of eMMC 5.1 flash storage and a Raspberry Pi RP2040 microcontroller. For reference, the latter connects to the ThunderBERRY5 via the QCS610's USB2 root, as the image below shows. The RP2040 microcontroller also hosts the SBC's auxiliary debugging header and its 40-pin header.
Furthermore, the ThunderBERRY5 supports Bluetooth 5.0, WiFi 5 and has a USB Type-C port. Theoretically, the ThunderBERRY5 should deliver better performance than the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B, which contains the Broadcom BCM2711. Grasso has not commented on availability or pricing yet, though.
