Orange Pi 5B launches for US$89 with updated connectivity options
Orange Pi has introduced an updated version of the Orange Pi 5, which the company introduced in November 2022. Sold as the Orange Pi 5B, the single-board computer remains based on the Rockchip RK3588S. For reference, the Rockchip RK3588S has four ARM Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz, four Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.4 GHz, a Mali-G610 MP4 GPU and an NPU capable of delivering 6 TOPS of AI performance.
According to Orange Pi, the new model differs from the Orange Pi 5 by featuring Bluetooth 5.0 and WiFi 6 connectivity. Additionally, the SBC possesses a microSD card reader and 32 GB to 256 GB of eMMC flash storage. Moreover, the Orange Pi 5B has LPDDR4X RAM, Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI out, USB Type-C and 26-pin headers, among other I/O.
Furthermore, the Orange Pi 5B supports Android 12, Debian 11, Ubuntu 20.04 and Ubuntu 22.04, as well as Android and Arch versions of Orange Pi OS. The SBC starts at US$89.90 with 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of eMMC flash storage. Alternatively, the Orange Pi 5B comes with 8 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage for US$115, 16 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage for US$149, and 16 GB of RAM with 256 GB of storage for US$169.
