ASUS Tinker Board R2.0 now shipping in UK for under £100
The Tinker Board R2.0 is now orderable in the UK, nearly four months after the release of the single-board computer (SBC) in the US. To recap, the Tinker Board R2.0 builds on the Tinker Board S, albeit with the same Rockchip RK3288 chipset and 2 GB of DDR3 RAM. Likewise, the newer SBC retains a 40-pin GPIO header, as well as various the following ports:
- 1x Gigabit Ethernet
- 1x HDMI 2.0
- 1x MicroSD card slot
- 4x USB Type-A
According to ASUS' product page, it has equipped the Tinker Board R2.0 with a newer Bluetooth chip that provides Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity; the older Tinker Board S makes do with Bluetooth 4.0. For reference, the Rockchip RK3288 debuted in August 2014, which explains its reliance on ARM Cortex-A17 CPU cores, of which there are four, and a Mali-T764 GPU.
Currently, the Tinker Board R2.0 is available to order in the UK from Okdo, which sells the SBC for £99.30 or £82.75 excluding VAT. Alternatively, the company offers various bulk buy discounts, with as little as £96.41 charged per SBC when ordering over 100 units. Please see ASUS' product page for more hardware details.
