Radxa Zero 3W: Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W alternative debuts with faster chip, up to 8 GB RAM
Chinese company Radxa has recently announced the Zero 3W SBC, a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W competitor equipped with more RAM and a more powerful chip while maintaining the same US$15 starting price.
At the helm is a Rockchip RK3566 SoC with four ARM Cortex-A55 cores boosting up to 1.6 GHz and a Mali-G52-2EE GPU. It's joined by a maximum of 8 GB of LPDDR4 RAM, a microSD card slot, and, optionally, up to 64 GB of eMMC flash.
Connectivity consists of two USB-C ports (1x USB 2.0 OTG + 1x USB 3.0 host), a Micro HDMI connector that can output 1080p@60Hz, a MIPI CSI camera interface, and a 40-pin GPIO. Additionally, there's an Ampak AP 6212 wireless module providing WiFi 4 and Bluetooth 5.0 support, with software allowing users to toggle between the onboard antenna and an external one attached to the U.FL connector.
The Radxa Zero 3W is already listed over at AllNet China, although it is unclear when orders will begin shipping. Pricing starts at US$15 for the variant with 1 GB of RAM and no eMMC flash and goes up to US$65 for the top model with 8 GB of RAM and 64 GB of eMMC storage. Opting for a pre-soldered GPIO header will set users back an additional US$1.
