Kia EV3 concept electric crossover utility vehicle unveiled with new AI assistant
Kia has unveiled the EV3 concept electric vehicle at its EV Day event. The Crossover Utility Vehicle (CUV) echoes the flagship EV9 in design but in a compact form. Details about the car’s performance have not been revealed. However, the company did show images of the vehicle’s interior.
Kia has opted for a natural aesthetic inside the vehicle, with a color palette and fabric choices inspired by the outdoors. The brand has used experimental fabrics, such as leather made with mushroom mycelium (the “root” of the fungus). The interior can transform, with reclining and rotating chairs, mini tables with adjustable positions and a folding rear bench to provide extra luggage space.
The company has also announced an AI assistant for the EV3; Kia has indicated that it is working with “top generative AI model providers” on this service. The assistant would help you plan an optimized route for your EV, pull up entertainment and provide emergency support. Price-wise, Kia has indicated that all of the new EVs unveiled at the EV Day event, the EV3, EV4 and EV5, will cost between US$35,000 and US$50,000. A production version of the EV3 is expected to arrive in 2024, though a precise launch date is yet to be provided.
