Valve's decision to replace the massively popular CS: GO (Counter-Strike: Global Offensive) with Counter-Strike 2 has been controversial, to say the least. It has been marred with plenty of game-breaking bugs, which could potentially jeopardize its e-sports scene. Now, AMD's latest gaffe could result in players catching a VAC (Valve Anti Cheat) ban for simply using an in-game feature.
The official Counter-Strike 2 account adviced gamers not to switch on the "AMD Anti-Lag+" feature added by AMD's latest Adrenaline 23.10.1 driver update. It modifies the game's DLL files, which in turn is flagged by VAC as an unauthorized modification to game files. Valve says it plans to reverse any bans triggered by this soon,
AMD has also put out a notification stating that it is aware of the issue and is working with Valve for a fix. For now, it has pulled the Adrenaline 23.10.1 driver update from its website, with no indication of when an updated version will be present. The only immediate recommendation for Counter-Strike 2 players is not to touch the feature altogether.
