Garmin releases Beta update v19.13 for Edge 540, 840 and 1040 bike computers
The Garmin Edge 540, Edge 840, and Edge 1040 Bike Computers can now receive Public Beta Update 19.13. The latest software adds one new feature to the devices: smart notifications with embedded images are now supported. For example, you can now view an image shared with a text in the notification.
Garmin has also looked to resolve several weather-related issues with Beta update 19.13. Firstly, the software includes a fix for the weather widget and event details page, where the weather icon was previously clipped. A problem with the temperature units provided with forecasts over a week away has been resolved, as has an issue with the wind speed shown in event details on the weather forecast page.
Garmin notes that, as the beta is in a pre-rollout state, you must manually install the update over Wi-Fi. To do this, navigate to the Main Menu > select System > About > Check For Updates. You may then need to select Software Update 19.13 after the download to trigger installation. As ever, Garmin requests that you log any issues in the Bug Reports section of the forum. As of yet, no bugs specifically linked to v19.13 have been shared. You can join the Beta Program via Garmin Connect.
