Garmin Forerunner 955 and Forerunner 965 smartwatches receive new Public Beta v17.18 update
Garmin has released Public Beta Version 17.18 for the Forerunner 955 and Forerunner 965 smartwatches. The new software brings several new features to the wearables, as well as a range of bug fixes. Firstly, Garmin has added new functionality to Body Battery alongside naps and personalized sleep insights. You can now view the weather for multiple locations, smart notifications come with embedded images, and a large font mode has been added.
Other features with Beta Version 17.18 include up ahead voice prompts and an inline skating activity. A tool just for the Forerunner 965, as it requires an AMOLED display, is red shift, which makes the screen red, orange or green to protect night vision. A fix for a bug causing some activity profiles to lack workouts has been provided, as has a solution to previous course point limitations. An issue that caused some watches to reset when using the calendar glance has been resolved, and problems with Spotify should now be fixed. Also included are various UI improvements and a Sensor Hub Firmware update.
Forerunner 955 and 965 owners must manually trigger installation by going to the Main menu > Settings > System > Software Update > Check For Updates. Garmin notes that v17.18 is a Release Candidate, meaning it intends to launch an identical public version of the update shortly, assuming no significant issues are uncovered during testing. Should you encounter any bugs, Garmin requests that you log them in the appropriate section of the forum. You can sign up for the Beta Program via Garmin Connect.
